Who we are
1 for 8 Billion is a global campaign supported by organisations and individuals from all corners of the globe committed to getting the best UN Secretary-General.
The UN Secretary-General plays a crucial role in tackling global challenges and improving the lives of seven billion people. It is vital that the best person is chosen for the job. While major reforms were adopted in 2015/16 and consolidated in 2021, there remains unfinished business. Just five countries hold sway over a decision that affects us all. The next Secretary-General will be appointed in 2021 - join our campaign to support a fair, open and inclusive process.
Over 750 organisations have signed up to the campaign with a combined reach of more than 170 million people worldwide. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, CIVICUS, Control Arms, FEMNET, Forum Asia, ITUC, WFUNA and many more are already on board. Will your organisation join our growing list?
