The 1 for 8 Billion campaign is delighted to introduce its new Steering Committee consisting of four internationally respected organisations with strong networks spanning UN regions:

CIVICUS the global alliance of civil society organisations and activists championing citizen action across the world;
Plataforma CIPÓ the independent, women-led policy institute focusing on climate, governance, and peacebuilding;
Southern Voice the platform for think tanks from Africa, Latin America & Caribbean, and Asia with a focus on the SDGs;
WomanSG the campaign which led calls for a woman Secretary-General in 2016 and which has big plans for the upcoming selection process.

Plataforma CIPÓ, UNA-UK and a consultant from Strategy for Humanity will continue to support the campaign with secretarial services until later this year. The 1 for 8 Billion campaign is grateful to Open Society Foundations for the seed funding to facilitate this support.

The Steering Committee’s role will be to run an inclusive process to create 1 for 8 Billion’s policy platform and to guide the campaign’s outreach and advocacy programme. The Steering Committee will expand its membership over the next 12 months to include organisations with a relevant thematic and regional focus.
