On 3 August the five candidates from Latin America and the Caribbean for UN Secretary-General will take part in a discussion convened by the Government of Uruguay, the GQUAL Campaign and Cepei.

During the “Regional Dialogue on the Future Leadership of the United Nations” candidates will take part in a conversation moderated by journalist Carmen Aristegui, where they will share their visions and proposals for the future of the Organization, the challenges facing multilateralism, and the role of the region in the global agenda. Ministers of Foreign Affairs from CELAC Member States will intervene joining the dialogue.

This will be the first regional forum to hear firsthand from Latin American and Caribbean candidates and engage in a dialogue on the future leadership of the UN and the region’s role in shaping the global agenda. In this hybrid event three of the candidates will take part in person, in Montevideo, with the other two participating virtually.
